Uploading from ODBC Data Sources

You can upload data from a connected ODBC-compatible source manually, or configure and schedule a long-term upload plan.

Manual upload

To upload your data manually, you need to perform the following:

  1. In the Repository, select Upload on the left panel.
  2. The Import and upload dialog will open.
Note. If you enabled the ODBC data sources and the Manual file upload options in the Data Sources tab, the Select the type of your upload dialog will open. Select ODBC adapter. After that, the Import and upload dialog will open.
  3. Click the Adapter field. All configured ODBC data sources appear in this list. Select the desired adapter.
  4. Click the Table name field and enter a new table name or select an existing table.
  5. Click Upload.
Once the upload is complete, the following information is displayed: the number of files processed, time taken to process the files.
Click OK to close the upload dialog.

Now you can select the required one in the Tables list and start working with data from it.

Scheduled upload

You can set up a periodicity for data uploads from an ODBC-compatible source when connecting it to Timeline, along with some additional upload settings. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. Click Add Schedule in the ODBC import configuration window. Edit schedule opens.
  2. Configure Recurrence
Choose the frequency of data import.
Note. You can change Time manually, for example, type 3:45 PM. Enter Time in UTC+00:00 time zone.
    1. Interval
Set start Time for the first scheduled import and time gaps between the next uploads - every 1/2/3/6/12/24 hours.
    2. Daily
Set Time for everyday data import.
    3. Weekly
Set Time and select Days of week from the drop-down list when to upload data.
    4. Monthly
Set Time and day of the month for the data import - First day of month, Last day of month or choose Day number and enter a date.
For example, it can be the 14th of every month at 12:30 AM UTC+00:00.
  3. Make sure that the schedule is marked as Active, then click Save.
  4. Complete the scheduling configuration by providing additional information:
    1. Specify the name of the target table by typing it into the Table name field.
    2. Choose whether to retain the earlier uploaded data in the target table. By default, the table is cleared before every new upload, if you the new data to extend the table, select Keep old data.
    3. Specify a pre-saved list of operations to execute after the upload by manually typing its name into the To-do list field.
Note. The to-do list should be created in advance.

To stop the scheduled import, unselect the Active option from the schedule configuration (see step 3 in the instruction above).
