Activating FineReader Server using License Manager Console

License Manager Console (or LMC) is a console tool that lets you manage FineReader Server licenses using the command line. It is especially useful for automatic FineReader Server deployment. This tool is included in the installation package and is usually located in the Bin folder (C:\Program Files\ABBYY FineReader Server 14.0\Bin\LicenseManager.Console.exe).

To activate a local license using LMC, do the following:

  1. Activate the license using the command below:

.\LicenseManager.Console.exe /activate:${serialNumber}

  1. Restart the Manager Service using a command with service restart permissions:

Restart-Service -Name ABBYY.Server.FineReaderServer.14.0

To activate an online license using LMC, do the following:

  1. Activate your online license beforehand, then export the online token using the Licensing node shortcut menu and save it.
  2. Import the online license token using the command below:

.\LicenseManager.Console.exe /LoadOnlineToken:${pathToToken}

  1. Wait until the following command returns a serial number (usually takes under a minute):
    .\LicenseManager.Console.exe /ListAvailableLicenses
  2. Restart the Manager Service using a command with service restart permissions:

Restart-Service -Name ABBYY.Server.FineReaderServer.14.0

Note. When activating an online license, note the parameter specifying the maximum number of active servers. If that value is reached, your license will no longer be available for the next new server you set up. For the license to become available again, disable a currently active server and wait the duration of two synchronization periods.
