How to Assign Processing Stations to a specific workflow

Jobs are sent to any available Processing Station regardless of the workflow they originate from. Jobs are queued for processing by order of priority, which can be specified in the workflow properties. For more information, see Dialog Box: Workflow Properties, Tab: General. If the processing queue is already full, new jobs with high priority will wait for a Processing Station to become available.

To ensure that all important jobs are processed immediately, in ABBYY FineReader Server 14 Release 3 Update 3 and later, you are able to assign Processing Stations to specific workflows. Some Processing Stations can now be assigned to workflows for jobs of regular priority, while others – to workflows for jobs of higher priorities.

This may be required when doing the following:

  1. Installing office suites (e.g. MS Office or Libre Office) on specific Processing Stations. Sometimes, installing these on all machines may not be possible due to license or security restrictions.
  2. Processing jobs from different clients on a single ABBYY FineReader Server. In this case, specific Processing Stations should be assigned to a particular client’s workflow.

To assign a Processing Stations to a specific workflow, do the following:

  1. Create a Group of Processing Stations. For more information, see How to Create a Group of Processing Stations.
Processing Stations that are not part of a Group may not be assigned to workflows. However, such a group may also contain a single Processing Station.
  2. In the Workflows node, select one or several workflows. In the drop-down menu, select one or several Groups of Processing Station in Assign Station group.
