Creating a classifier

Classification technology allows ABBYY FlexiCapture to detect the class of an input document. Classified documents can be matched to the appropriate Document Definition so that their data can be extracted.

Note: The classification technology processes documents one page at a time, but the classified pages can be assembled into documents based on their class and then processed as usual.

Note: Whenever a page is classified (this includes the Classification Training mode), it is also recognized, thus decrementing the page counter. Any further operations on the page will not affect the page counter.

Creating a classifier

To create a classifier in ABBYY FlexiCapture, complete the following steps:

  1. Set up the classifier based on how you want to use it.
  2. Load the images.
  3. Train the classifier. To assess the quality of your classifier, create a test batch. This batch should be made up of documents that were not used in the training of the classifier. Then classify the documents in the test batch using the trained classifier.
  4. Analyze the classification statistics. If required, adjust or modify the classifier settings.
  5. Map the classes to the appropriate Document Definition sections.

If needed, you can also export the classifier to FlexiLayout Studio.
