Document Scanning and Image Import

ABBYY FlexiCapture SDK can receive images from three types of sources: document scanning, opening from files, or directly from memory.

Document Scanning

  • Via TWAIN UI (including ADF support and manual input feeding)
  • Setting up scanning setting directly using ABBYY FlexiCapture SDK API
  • Asynchronous scanning mode (the images received from scanner can be processed while the new ones are scanning)

ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 SDK enables flexible management of scanning parameters, such as: brightness, colority, resolution, image size, duplex scanning, pause between pages setup and more.

See also Scanning.

Image file formats

The Data Capture SDK supports the majority of image formats, including multi-page TIFF and JPEG 2000 (part1), and works with black-and-white, grayscale and color images. It also opens PDF files by converting them into images with Adobe® PDF Library Technology.

Note: Import of XFA (XML Forms Architecture)-based PDF form is not supported.
