Improving recognition quality
Recognition results are affected by a number of factors. If you are working with complex multi-page documents, it is important to take into account the source image properties and set the program up accordingly, which will improve the document recognition results significantly.
To improve the quality of recognition, do the following:
- Verify that the recognition languages are specified correctly.
Attention: Selecting more than 5 languages at once may cause an increase recognition time and decrease its quality. - Verify that the appropriate image preprocessing settings have been enabled.
Often, recognition errors are caused by incorrectly orientated, skewed, and noised images, as well as facing pages. - Verify and manually edit the document layout if required.
The way the recognition areas are marked on the document images significantly affects recognition quality. - If required, edit the text properties.
- Rectify any possible recognition errors and implement the program's suggestions.
ABBYY FineReader PDF tracks the process of document image import, structure analysis, recognition, and export. If any situations that may affect the quality of the results arise, ABBYY FineReader PDF will display the appropriate warnings and error information. - If required, modify the table structure.
