One-time Editing Actions
One-time editing actions may be performed by means of special tools located in the top side of the image enhancement panel.
Rotate an image
The standard orientation of a page is the one where the text lines are horizontal and the text should be read top to bottom. If the orientation of a page is different from the standard, you should rotate the page. In the image window, select the pages to rotate and then:
- to rotate the images 90° clockwise, click
or click Rotate 90° Clockwise on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu
- to rotate the images 90° counter-clockwise, click
or click Rotate 90° Counterclockwise on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu
- to rotate the images 180°, click
or click Rotate 180° on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu
Flip an image
In the image window, select the pages to flip and then:
- to flip the images along the vertical axis, click
or click Flip Horizontally on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu
- to flip the images along the horizontal axis, click
or click Flip Vertically on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu.
Crop an image
Unlike Autoсrop, this tool is designed for manual cropping, including cropping multiple rectangles on one image. To crop an image:
- In the image window, select the image to crop.
- Click
or click Crop on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu.
- Select an area on the image that you want to crop. A frame will appear around the selected area. You can change the color of the frame in the Options dialog box (click Tools → Options... → General → Crop line color).
- Repeat this operation if you need to select multiple areas.
- To draw an area inside another area, hold down the Ctrl key while drawing.
- To deselect an area, hold down the Shift key and click anywhere inside the area or on the area border.
- The image will be cropped when you press Enter or when you click anywhere outside the page.
- Each selected are will saved as a separate page.
Split an image
If an image contains two or more scanned pages, you can split them and save each fragment as a separate page. To do this, select a page in the image window and click or click Split on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu.
- By default, an image is split into two fragments horizontally.
- To split an image vertically, hold down the Shift before when splitting the image.
- To split an image into four fragments, hold down the Ctrl key when splitting the image.
Invert image colors
If an image contains light text against a dark background, you should invert the image colors to facilitate OCR. In the image window, select the pages to invert and click or click Invert on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu.
Redact sensitive information from an image
The redaction tool is used to permanently hide sensitive information on a document. To redact the text:
- In the image window, select the page on which sensitive information is to be obliterated.
- Click
or click Redact on the Page menu in the main window or on the shortcut menu.
- Place the mouse pointer in a corner of the area you wish to redact and, holding down the left mouse button, drag the frame diagonally. The text in the selected area will be obliterated by a color rectangle. You can select the color of this rectangle in the Options dialog box (click Tools → Options... → General → Redaction Color).
Change the resolution of an image
- In the image window or the Batches window, select the pages you need to change the resolution in.
- Click
or click Change Resolution... on the Page menu in the main window of the program or on the shortcut menu.
- In the Set Resolution dialog box, specify the required definition.
