If Your Text Contains Too Many Specialized or Rare Terms
ABBYY FineReader 12 checks recognized words against its internal dictionary. If the text you want to recognize contains many specialized terms, abbreviations and names, you can improve recognition accuracy by adding them to the dictionary.
- On the Tools menu, click View Dictionaries….
- In the User Dictionaries dialog box, select the desired language and click View….
- The Dictionary dialog box will open. In this dialog box, type a word and click Add or select a word and click Delete.
If the dictionary already contains the word you are trying to add, a message stating that the word you're trying to add is already in the dictionary will be displayed.
You can import user dictionaries created in previous versions of ABBYY FineReader (i.e. 9.0, 10 and 11).
- On the Tools menu, click View Dictionaries…, select the desired language, and then click View….
- The Dictionary dialog box will open. In this dialog box, click the Import… button and select the dictionary file you wish to import (it must have the extension *.pmd, *.txt, or *.dic).
