Main Application Window
When you start ABBYY FormDesigner, the main window appears, together with the Quick Start dialog box. The Quick Start dialog box allows you to start working immediately, prompting you to choose from among the most commonly used commands: Open a file, Recent files, Create a new form, or start the Form Wizard.
You can customize the appearance of the main application window in the Options dialog box.

The Menu bar contains the following menus: File, Edit, View, Form, Elements, Tools, and Help.
You can show/hide interface elements using the View menu.
The Standard toolbar contains buttons for the most common tasks.
The Design Tools toolbar contains buttons for editing form elements.
The Formatting toolbar contains buttons and commands for formatting text.
The Form Elements toolbar contains buttons for adding elements to the form.
The Ruler is a bar marked off in units of measure that is used as an editing aid for exact positioning and alignment of form elements.
The Form window displays the current form. Only one form can be displayed at a given moment.
Document Structure. This pane displays the hierarchy of the fields of a document. Each field has one or more elements linked to it.
Properties window. In this window, you can view and change the properties of the selected element. The tabs displayed in this window depend on the type of element currently selected. To open a tab, click on its name to the right.
The Status bar displays information about the current element: the coordinates of the top left corner of the element in mm, the size of the element in mm, additional information about the element (the type of the element). Page type and size is also displayed on the Status bar. Additional information (number of character cells in each row and column) is available for entry fields, date fields and numeric fields.
