Access Modes

ABBYY FineReader Server 14 supports two access modes.

Regular mode

In this mode, users do not need any special permissions to access the ABBYY FineReader Server 14 components. This mode is intended for small companies and companies that do not need to process sensitive documents. Upon installation, there will be only a Chief Administrator in the system. The password of the Chief Administrator will be empty. We strongly recommend specifying a new password.

Strong security mode

In this mode, the ABBYY FineReader Server 14 components are initially accessible only to the administrator installing the program and to members of the built-in administrators group. Upon installation, the administrator must add new users, assign roles to the users, and grant them access permissions for specific workflows. This mode is intended for large organizations and companies processing sensitive documents. The Chief Administrator role is disabled in this mode.

You can select an access mode when installing the program or when adding or removing components. For detailed instructions, see FineReader 14 System Administrator's Guide > Installation > Installing ABBYY FineReader Server Components > Security settings.
