How to Start Recording

Basic steps

When all preconditions are met, let's start logging user actions:

  1. Navigate to the Recorders tab in the Recording Service application.
  2. Select Recorder instances which you want to log.
  3. Click Start button at the top pane.
  4. The status appears near Recorders - recording. That means Recording Service starts to collect information from the selected instances to logs.
    Note. Turning the recording on may take several seconds. Refresh the page to check the actual Recorder status.

Recording quick start

Assigned templates can automate the recording process. If the template has the Start recording when assigned to recorder option turned on, then recording starts immediately after the Recorder instance connects the Recording Service (and all prerequisites are met). In this case, Recording Service doesn't require any additional actions from your side. See Configuring and Applying Templates to learn more.

To make sure that the application is successfully collecting information from the instance, check the status on the Recorders tab. If the value is recording the process goes properly.

How to know that recording started?

To ensure that you successfully started recording for Recorder instances, check their status on the Recorders tab. For each Recorder that capture and transmit user activity to Recording Service, you will see recording in the Status column.
