Image preprocessing

When you feed a receipt to ABBYY FlexiCapture for Invoices, the program determines whether the image is a photo or a scan and selects the image preprocessing operations appropriate for each type of image. For example, photos will be automatically cropped and their text lines will be straightened, as this will help the program to detect the fields more reliably. Scans, on the other hand, will be deskewed for the same purpose.

If you want to preview the original image, select the Store original image during processing option:

  • on the Image Processing tab of the Project Properties dialog box (prior to loading your images)
  • in the image processing settings dialog box that is displayed when you create an image import profile
  • in the image processing settings dialog box that is displayed when you load images manually

Note: If you choose to store the original images, your project will take up more memory and receipts will take longer to process. We recommend storing the original images only when absolutely necessary.

To view the original image, click View → Image Show Original Image. Alternatively, right-click anywhere in the captured document and click Show Original Image on the shortcut menu.

Note: The program will not be able to capture data from images containing multiple receipts scanned or shot together. Before feeding such images to the program, you will need to split them using the Split tool on the image editing toolbar, making sure that each image contains only one receipt.
