How can I change the network connection settings?

You can change the connection settings used for communication among the License Server, the License Manager, and the workstations.

  1. Change the following parameters in the NetworkLicenseServer.ini file, which is located on the computer where the License Server is installed (%programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\15\Licensing\).
    • Connection protocol
See Setting up the connection protocol for details.
    • Connection port
See Setting up the connection port for details.

      For example:
      [Licensing]
      NetworkServer=yes
      #ConnectionProtocolType=TCP\IP
      #ConnectionEndpointName=81

Note: Make sure that your firewall does not prevent %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\15\Licensing\NetworkLicenseServer.exe from accessing the specified port.
  2. Make similar changes to the Licensing.ini file located in %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\15\Licensing\.
  3. Copy the Licensing.ini file to the License Manager folder on all the computers where the License Manager is installed (by default, the License Manager is installed to %programfiles%\ABBYY FineReader 15 License Server).

Important! For the changes to take effect, you must restart the ABBYY FineReader 15 Licensing Service.
  4. Restart the ABBYY FineReader 15 Licensing Service. After restarting, make sure that the License Manager is working properly.
  5. Create an administrative installation point.
  6. Copy the updated Licensing.ini file located in %programfiles%\Common Files\ABBYY\FineReader\15\Licensing\ to the administrative installation point that you have just created.

    For example:
    D:\Temp\Adm15\ABBYY FineReader 15
Adm15 is the administrative installation folder.
ABBYY FineReader 15 is the subfolder containing the FineReader.exe executable file.
The Licensing.ini file should be copied to the ABBYY FineReader 15 subfolder.
  7. Make sure that the appropriate server-side port is open.
  8. Reinstall  ABBYY FineReader 15 on the workstations with the help of the administrative installation point created in step 5.
